My 1st birthday here in Canada

October 15, 2023

Hey, hey, hey! I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated my blog, but for this post, I’ll update you on what happened during my 31st birthday.

My first birthday in Canada was a truly special experience. I just celebrated my first birthday here, and I can confidently say it was one for the books! I felt incredibly loved by my cousin Ate Myleen, my lovely classmates, and other family members. Even though I had only just met since arriving in Canada. My birthday celebration was not that extravagant, but it was filled with warmth and the genuine love of those around me. It was a modest affair, yet it felt like a grand celebration because of the heartwarming presence of my cousin, classmates, and newfound family members. The atmosphere was one of joy and camaraderie, making it a day to remember. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to have met such wonderful people since my arrival in Canada.

My decision to come to Canada was spontaneous and unexpected. I ventured here without any clear expectations or a predetermined plan. However, looking back, I can confidently say it was the best choice I’ve ever made in my entire life. The journey has been challenging at times, but the support and love I’ve received from the people I’ve met here have made it all worthwhile.

To some, their presence at my simple party might seem insignificant, but it held great meaning to me. They took the time and made the effort to come to our gathering, and for me, that is more than enough. Their presence was a testament to our bonds, and I couldn’t be more thankful for their kindness and generosity.

I want to express my gratitude to my classmates, who welcomed me as a complete stranger, especially given that I’m the only Filipino in our class. It’s not always easy to be a newcomer, and I often feel like an outsider. However, they went out of their way to include me in their small hangouts, events, and meetups. To them, these might be simple gestures, but to me, they mean the world. Although I may appear comfortable in social situations, the introvert in me is often too shy to reach out. However, I genuinely make an effort to be more approachable and hope they find it easy to talk to me, as I truly enjoy interacting and conversing with them.

The memories of our mahjong nights, playing with fireworks on Canada Day, and enjoying the cherry blossom viewing day have become the core of my experiences here. These shared moments have deepened our friendships and created lasting bonds. They represent the richness of my life here in Canada and are a testament to the beautiful connections I’ve made.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have met such wonderful people at the beginning of my journey in Canada. They have made this new chapter of my life truly remarkable. I want to give a special shoutout to my dear friends, Natchana and Cindy, who have made this experience even more memorable. Their friendship and support mean the world to me, and I look forward to creating many more cherished memories together.

I will update you soon on the back story of how I landed here in Toronto, Canada. In the meantime, you can read my last post, in which I somehow lowkey mentioned my most life-changing decision ever. Till next time, sweeties!
