Aliwagwag Falls Eco Park

May 17, 2018

This summer 2018, I decided to be more adventurous. I’ll be showing you more the beauty of my hometown, the Davao Region. My first destination for my adventurous summer 2018 would be this majestic Aliwagwag Falls. 💦

Aliwagwag Falls, known as the tallest falls in the Phillippines, is situated at the province of Cateel, Davao Oriental. This glorious wonder of nature can really take your breath away because of its multi-tiered waterfall with 84 steps ranging from 6–110 feet. Like literally, me and my cousins were catching our breath when we are trying to reach the last part of the falls.

The water is really clean and crystal blue. The current is also quite strong that there are parts that you cannot jump and swim without some precautions. So, watch out for signs where you can swim safely or you can ask the locals where are the swimming spots. But if its peak season, you can spot people flocking in the area where you can dip in.

I’m with my mom, my dad, and my cousins during that time we went to the falls. We were kinda tired hiking the trail to the last part of the falls. So make sure to bring some water, cap to protect you from the heat of the sun and put on some sunscreen. And if you’re with your parents or other elders, make sure to assist them because there are some parts that the trail is quite slippery. My cousin actually slipped and accidentally her camera fell. Luckily, it was nothing serious. She was fine and the camera was safe as well.

My cousins were excited and dip into the water. I didn’t join them because I was afraid of the strong current and the water was cold. I’m not a fan of cold water by the way. But according to my cousins, the water was nice and refreshing. You can really feel the cleanliness of it.

Aside from appreciating the beauty of this falls, there are some fun activities that will challenge your bravery and courage. There is this monkey bridge where you’ll cross it while fighting with the strong wind brought by the falls and some splash of water. Honestly, I was very afraid and scared to try it. I was really shaking and took me minutes to get my balance right. But after crossing that bridge, I felt so proud of myself. It’s like an achievement because I finally got some courage to face daring activities like that. So, yay for me!

Also, there’s a zipline where you can see the beauty of the falls in a different perspective. But unfortunately, we didn’t try it anymore since we were running out of time already and we must depart to our next destination.
