Lately, I’ve been looking around Davao City for my perfect hangout place where I could get my daily dose of coffee, great food, and a cozy atmosphere. And I think, The Lobby Café by Arcadia is the one for me.
Way back in college, I really don’t go and hang in coffee shops. It’s because of my 3 reasons. First I don’ drink coffee at all. I don’t like the taste of it particularly when it’s served as hot. Second, it’s totally out of my budget. I only have a P150 allowance per day which is mainly for my lunch, merienda, and dinner. And lastly, I prefer going home straight because of LTE and pocket wifi is not a thing yet and our Internet at home is way faster.
But after graduating from college and went to fashion school, I also developed a thing with coffee. It all began when I discovered the iced coffees by Mcdonald’s. I was eager to finish my sewing project that night since it was already due the next day. Since Mcdonald’s was just beside our condo, I decided to buy an iced coffee to keep me awake the whole night. And after that night, I was really addicted to it. Then, I realized that I preferred coffee drinks that are served as cold because I can appreciate more the taste of it.
Now, I’ve been looking around Davao City to discover different kinds of coffee shops. And recently, I found out about a freshly opened cafe which is near our house. Since I really like the place, I’m gonna show you around and also their food offerings.
♥ The Place ♥
The Lobby Cafe by Arcadia is the newest cafe inside Arcadia Active Lifestyle Center in Matina Enclaves. Upon entering the cafe, you can feel the earthly and minimalistic vibes of the whole place. The space of the cafe is not that big but since it’s still new, it will not be crowded yet. I also love the big windows of the place. t gives an illusion that the place is big and also the natural light can enter which gives a serene and cozy feeling.
♥ The Food ♥
Overall, the presentation of their offerings is top-notch. It’s like it was plated similar in hotels or fine dining restaurants. Their serving is actually quite big and generous. So here are the following dishes that we tasted that day are:
1. Chicken and Waffle
This dish would be my personal favorite! It’s a southern style fried chicken, with bacon-chive waffle and peppercorn gravy. I love how juicy the chicken is. Plus the bacon inside the waffle is a pleasant surprise whenever you eat it. The bacon bits inside the waffle also compliment to the sweetness of the maple syrup.
2. Tuna Melt
From the name of the dish itself, this food really melts in your mouth literally! It’s a classic tuna melt with caramelized green apple with some fries and a salad on the side. For all the health conscious people out there, this dish is definitely a must try!
3. Lasagna
I don’t know about you but I’m a lasagna lover. And this lasagna didn’t let my hopes down because of the cheesiness really exceeded my expectations. It’s a rolled lasagna layered with meat sauce, chorizo Cebu, baked off and finished with parmesan cheese.
4. Aglio Olio
It’s a spaghetti tossed in olive oil, garlic, and peperoncino. I’m so happy with this dish since there are two things that I love are present here which is the olives and cheese. Actually, I’m quite biased here because the main reason why I love olives because it’s my second name. I’ve heard that many people don’t like the taste of olive but for me, I like its saltiness.
♥ The Desserts ♥
1, Chocolate Mousse
This one is for the big fans of sweet treats. Contrary to my blog name, “Sweetroxieee”, I’m actually not a big fan of too much sweetness. I’m more like a dark chocolate lover. That’s why this one is too sweet for me. But I bet if you’re a sweet dessert lover, this one is definitely for you.
2. Espresso Chocolate Verna
I really love this dessert since it contains coffee. I don’t know I’m really going loco to coffee recently. haha!
3. Ube Pandan Panna Cotta
I’m not a big fan of Ube so I was quite hesitant to try this dessert. But I feel I was too judgemental and thought that I should give it a chance. Well, it was definitely a good decision to try this dish because it was really the bomb! This one is my favorite of them all because the sweetness is well-balanced. Plus, this dessert is giving a “Pinoy feels” since it has Ube and Pandan which are some famous Filipino desserts.
