Starting my new year by pampering myself with a fresh set of nail extensions! I’ve searched on Facebook for a nail salon that offers nail art and extensions because it is not common here in Davao. Then I found Nailstalgic Nail Salon + Café – Davao.
Since high school, I’ve always loved to paint my nails. I prefer them to be painted because it looks neater and it also add up to my outfits whenever I’m dressing up. Back then, my family owns a small salon so it was not a problem for me. However, the nail polishes before were the basic ones. It chips off easily. And then it looks messy whenever it chips off. But now we have gel polishes that stay longer. Though it is quite pricey since it needs the UV LED light lamp to apply it. Other than gel polishes, nail extensions became a thing. It is more expensive than gel polishes since they are like creating and shaping new nails and attaching them above yours.
I thought of trying nail extensions because I mostly do unboxing videos and it would be nice to have pretty nail art on it. Plus my nails don’t grow that “long”. It will always break whenever it reaches its “max” length. And lastly, I just want to try it even for once. I know it’s kinda expensive but your girl just received her “Christmas Bonus” so I just went on with it.
♥︎ Convenient Location ♥︎
Nailstalgic is located at Jj’s Commune Compound, Loyola Street Obrero. They do have a parking space. However, it is just limited and usually full because it is shared by other tenants of the compound. Their location is good since it is in the heart of the city. Although, be aware that Obrero is quite busy during peak hours. So, I recommend going there between 1 to 4 pm. Be sure to book an appointment because they do have a lot of clients. When I went there at 2 pm, the salon was quite empty upon my arrival. But around 4 pm, clients arrived simultaneously to the point some were refused since most of them are walk-ins.
♥︎ Pretty Interiors ♥︎
I really love their chic and glam interiors. Well, it’s quite obvious that I love their color theme, especially the color pink. I’m just a sucker for anything in pink. 😅 The salon is also wide and spacious which also adds to having a relaxing ambiance. The first floor is divided into two, the nail station and the cafe area. The second floor also has extra spaces for nail services and the other half is for their waxing services.

So I availed myself of their nail extensions and pedicure services. First, the staff prepared a foot bath with some rose petals in it. After soaking my feet, they proceed on cleaning your toenails. If you avail of any nail service, they do a hand soak and a basic scrub. I love that they made the foot bath and the hand soak pretty with the petals. It adds a glamorous experience and soaking your feet and hands ensures cleanliness. Speaking of cleanliness, the nail tools they used are all sterilized. They let you sign an unopened envelope that contains the sterilized tools to make sure you are the only one who used it.

♥︎ Nail Extension Process ♥︎
The whole process took around 4 hours. Yes, it was time-consuming. But the process is really done meticulously since the nail technician will build a “new nail” depending on your desired nail length and shape. I chose a medium length with a semi-square shape. When you will put your hands under the UV LED light lamp, it kinda stings and hurts a little bit. You can feel it burning which they call “heat transfer”. It is because the machine does the “gel curing” which is basically shrinking while it hardens on the natural nail.
I do have a low pain tolerance so I felt it. I was pulling my hand every time I feel it but the nail technician holds my fingers to let it stay under the lamp so the nail builder will dry. Though, it was still tolerable since it didn’t reach the point that I was tearing up already.

After 4 hours, here’s the end result! I choose the design of the nail art. I decided to go for a lilac and white color combination. Actually, I just found inspiration from a Pinterest photo but I did some minimal tweaks. I love the way the nail technician shaped my nails and the length is just perfect for my liking. Also, I still feel comfortable typing this blog post with these nails. Ah, I just like it so much! It looks so cute and minimalist.

Here’s the price list of their services. They also have special package rates if ever you and your friends want to have a spa party. I can say that their prices for the classic manicure and pedicure are decent. However, the price of their nail enhancements is quite not for everyone. Still, it is a typical price for it. Especially, since there are just a few nail salons that offer this service, the market of this is too niched, and it lasts long. My total bill for a nail extension in medium length with basic nail art and pedicure is ₱ 2,800. Yeah, I just splurged and spoiled myself too much. But I didn’t regret it since I really love the outcome so much.

Upon arriving at home, I realized that I have some nail deco stickers. So, I decided to put some. It really adds more beauty and luxury to it! Now, I’m obsessed with my nails already. I wish these will be my nails for the whole year. LMAO! My favorite design was the one with some small flowers on it. It is just so cute and perfect! Now, I’m comfortable doing a lot of unboxing videos because my nails are so pretty.
Overall, I had a great “me” time during the whole service. The cleanliness, the aesthetics, the ambiance, and the customer service are all great. All the staffs were respectful and easy to talk to. I had fun to the point that I didn’t realize that I was there for 4 hours.
