Happy Earth Day! In honor of our Mother Nature, I’ve decided to start building an eco-friendly wardrobe. I know joining the movement of sustainable fashion is not easy. However, there’s nothing wrong with trying, right?

Why did I think about this? Since I love dressing up, I really do own lots of clothes. And recently I just transferred to a new bedroom thus I also moved my things just like my clothes. My new bedroom doesn’t have a closet thus my father made me one. However, it was quite smaller compared to my old one. As a result, I did some decluttering in Marie Kondo style. One by one, I questioned myself if this item still sparks some joy in me. After 4 hours, I’ve separated 3 big boxes full of clothes.

I was really shocked that I do own that amount of clothes. Most of these were not used for a year now because I’m just here in my room since there’s still an ongoing pandemic outside. So, I’ve come up with a decision that I must turn my wardrobe more eco-friendly. Since this is my first step, I came up with an idea that I’ll start with the essentials section of my closet.

What are the benefits of using eco-friendly clothes?

1. Uses natural and organic materials.
2. Affordable
3. More durable.
4. Less waste to no toxic waste from the production.

Isn’t it amazing? And because of that benefits, I’m more inspired to start my journey. Today, I’ll be showing you my eco-friendly wardrobe essentials:

♥︎ Tank Top ♥︎

Lately, we’re experiencing more hot and warmer days. And it makes sense that having a tank top is a number one priority. Also, I love its flexibility because you can wear it anywhere and partner it with anything. Either you can it as loungewear or just grab a blazer, coat, or a jacket whenever you want to do some quick errands outside. In this photo, I paired my black tank top with a black checkered pencil skirt and an old rose blazer for a more professional look.

♥︎ Basic Tee ♥︎

The most comfortable ensemble of all time for me is a T-shirt. It’s all because I’m a little bit insecure about my arms so I prefer a sleeved shirt that a tank top. Also, shirts usually use comfortable materials such as cotton. Moreover, I always choose v-necked shirts because they can help magnify an illusion to look at your neck longer. As a result, you’d look taller. In this outfit, since I was wearing a plain shirt, I thought of partnering it with a cute pink printed skirt. Or you can wear your favorite denim shorts.

♥︎ Biker Shorts ♥︎

(Forever 21 Women’s Organic Cotton-Blend Biker Shorts)

Biker shorts are also so comfy! I love how these shorts can complement any kind of style. Since what I have is in color black, I’ve decided to pair it with my pastel-colored sweater. I love how these two are total opposites but it creates one cute look together.

So, why we should switch to eco-friendly alternatives?

If you look into the facts, you will find that the fashion industry has been largely responsible for a lot of chemical waste. Eco-fashion, on the other hand, uses materials such as hemp, cotton, tinsel, wool, or silk to avoid any drastic impacts as shown previously. With everyone thinking green, it is important to choose eco-friendly clothes for women, especially for these benefits.
