For my birthday this year, I wanted something simple yet special. A cozy fall day trip that felt like a little escape from Toronto. So when Willow Springs Winery invited me to visit their vineyard, I felt so happy. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect because I got to celebrate my birthday there with a few of my closest friends. It turned out to be one of the sweetest little getaways I’ve had in a while.
Willow Springs Winery is a charming vineyard located in Whitchurch-Stouffville, just 45 minutes north of downtown Toronto. Going there was a breeze as it was actually just near the highway. Plus, there are visible signages you can see to make sure you’re going the right way. If you spotted a golf course, I could say you’re near already. Me and my friends jokingly said the whole trip that the golf course is too big it extends to the winery too lol! Anyway, the winery is surrounded by a gorgeous pond, golden trees, and that peaceful countryside breeze that instantly slows you down.

Their Full Wine Tasting and Food Pairing Experience which the one we had is $100 for two people. And honestly, it’s worth every sip. It includes:
Artisan Cheese Selection – Curated Canadian and international cheeses to start
Cured Salmon + 2024 Riesling (Dry) – Crisp and refreshing, perfectly balancing the salmon and capers
Smoked Duck Breast + 2021 Meritage – A Bordeaux-inspired blend that complements the cherry-glazed duck beautifully
Crème Brûlée + 2023 Vidal Icewine – An award-winning Icewine for the sweetest finale

🍷 The Wine Tasting & Pairing Experience 🍷
My favorites were the cured salmon and the crème brûlée, while my top wine pick was the 2021 Meritage. The wine was smooth and rich. I found most of their wines to be on the sweeter and more approachable side, which makes them perfect for casual wine drinkers or anyone just starting to explore wine tastings. I do appreciate the cold cut meat, arugula salad, and especially the gourmet cheese board. To be honest, I’m a big fan of charcuterie boards! Like I can totally devour those lol

🍂 The Ambience 🍂
It was such a calm and joy-filled afternoon. We spent hours just talking, laughing, and soaking in the warm sunlight that glowed over the vineyard. I felt so grateful to be surrounded by good friends, good wine, and the kind of scenery that makes life feel soft again. Every corner of Willow Springs Winery was photo-worthy. From the rustic interiors to the glowing rows of grapes under the golden leaves. It honestly felt like I was walking through a Pinterest fall board.
If you’re looking for a Toronto day trip or a cute fall experience near Toronto, this is your sign to visit Willow Springs Winery. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just craving a peaceful weekend escape, it’s such a lovely spot to unwind and reconnect.

🎀 My Cute Pink Fall Outfit for the Day 🎀
Of course, a cozy fall day trip called for a cute autumn outfit. I went for a soft pink off-shoulder knitted sweater paired with a white pleated skirt, white boots, and carried a black leather shoulder bag accented with a pearl beaded ribbon keychain for a soft, playful touch. I loved how the soft pink and white tones blended with the golden leaves near the pond. It honestly felt like walking inside a Pinterest fall board. Plus, it made taking photos so much fun!
If you’re planning a Toronto fall day trip too, I’d say go for cute but comfy pieces that let you walk around and snap aesthetic shots. Small details like a ribbon clip or a chic bag keychain can really elevate your outfit and make your day feel extra special.

💝 Wine & Gifts 💝
When you visit Willow Springs Winery, you can also pick up your favorite wines. They have a variety of options to choose from, including their 2024 Riesling, 2021 Meritage, Vidal Icewine, and more. You can even build your own gift basket, choosing wines and other treats to create a special present.
My friend picked up the 2024 Riesling since Canadian Thanksgiving was the next day (spoiler: that’s actually my real birthday, October 13, but we celebrated a little early because my friends had family plans). It was such a sweet way to bring a little extra home from our trip.

💌 Why You’ll Love It 💌
Only a short drive from Toronto
Cozy, calm countryside setting
Perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, or mini escapes
Great for first-time wine tasters and photo lovers
🥂 Final Thoughts 🥂
This little fall getaway reminded me that you don’t always need big plans to celebrate life. Sometimes, it’s just about finding a cozy spot, enjoying good company, and letting the moment be enough. It was the kind of birthday that felt peaceful, warm, and completely me. Till next time!!
